My father followed a long line of "tillers of the soil" from 16th century grape growers in Germany to modern day wheat farmers in Kansas. He was proud of his heritage and proud of the farm originally homesteaded by his parents in the early 1900's. My parents moved on the farm soon after their wedding (after an extended honeymoon in Mexico). Here they raised their family and prospered as a result of their hard work.
Today I remember my father as a good man, husband, citizen, and mostly for being my daddy.
