•As a child, I did not like gathering eggs on the farm because the hens were mean.
• I played the Doris Day part in “Pillow Talk” in a high school play.
• I played defensive line woman on my girl’s football team in high school - real football, not powder puff.
• I ate dinner at a restaurant next to Vice President Bush’s table in Fort Smith, Arkansas surrounded by secret service agents.
• I played the French horn and the cymbals in my high school band – horribly.
• I was the Sports Editor of my high school paper.
• When I moved to California, I lived in Malibu. I now live near Skid Row.
• I did not finish kindergarten.

Creature In The Cracks

My last post mentioned Carla Sonheim's newly released book, Drawing Lab. I completed one of the exercises today. Using my iphone camera, I took a picture of some "cracks" in the pavement close to my home. From the photo, I traced the outline of my little creature and then added some features. Since I didn't have time to hand color him, I scanned him and added digital scrapbook paper.

To think this little guy came from some random cracks in the pavement. Below shows you the steps I went through to get him.

Caral Sonheim - Drawing Lab

One of my favorite artists is Carla Soneheim. Her book Drawing Lab is being released tomorrow. I ordered my book through Amazon and just received it. Everyone of the 52 exercises will give your creative soul a fun romp. Unlike some books where there are only a couple of things you would actually be interested in, this book has me wanting to do every single exercise - immediately! Check it out - now!

Trip back to Kansas

Last Sunday, my brother, Tim, took Mother, Robyn and me on a countryside tour including a stop at Raile Farms. This old Dodge Brothers truck was my grandfather Holl's, and he use to pick-up my mother from school in it. I remember my family using it during wheat harvest when I was a child. It was old even back then. I think the passenger had to use a bucket for a seat.

The old truck has been retired and rests peacefully near the grove of trees. Tim wants to haul it away, but Mother and I see a certain charm in the old relic.

Class Reunion

What an amazing weekend. Party at the Schultz's, slumber party with the girls, class reunion gathering, driving tour of the county with my brother, lunch at the pool hall and the finale - a spectacular Kansas storm complete with lightening, thunder, tornado and hail that had us taking cover in the basement.
