•As a child, I did not like gathering eggs on the farm because the hens were mean.
• I played the Doris Day part in “Pillow Talk” in a high school play.
• I played defensive line woman on my girl’s football team in high school - real football, not powder puff.
• I ate dinner at a restaurant next to Vice President Bush’s table in Fort Smith, Arkansas surrounded by secret service agents.
• I played the French horn and the cymbals in my high school band – horribly.
• I was the Sports Editor of my high school paper.
• When I moved to California, I lived in Malibu. I now live near Skid Row.
• I did not finish kindergarten.

Keeping Busy

Being unemployed has been keeping me very busy. I have been using the time off creating some pieces I hope to sell.

Yesterday morning, I drove around the industrial area taking pictures and have been digitally altering them. The process can be tedious, but I find myself getting in a zone with hours passing without taking a break.

Last night while watching "Lost," I drew this piece. It is pretty simple. I am absolutely loving every moment of "Lost." The multi-story lines are complicated. I can never guess what is going to happen next.

Los Angeles City Hall

I just finished another piece for my "The City" series. In case you don't recognize the building, it is City Hall which was used in the old TV show "Dragnet."

California passed the budget in the wee hours of the morning after months and months of bitter negotiating. The news media covered the story as it was horrible that the budget could not be passed. What the media did not cover was the fact our taxes are going to be significantly increased - sales tax, car tax and the one that really pisses me off- a 2 percent surcharge on your state taxes - can you believe it - a tax on a tax!

I am ready to join a revolt - seriously!

City On Fire

This is a recent addition to my series of "The City." I took the picture this morning on my walk.

Eric, my neighbor, gave me some good tips on how to market these. If the job market continues as it is, this may be the only source of money for me. I am working on my web site and will post it here when it is done.

I believe the rain has finally stopped. Thank goodness.

Not working, but still drawing

I may not be working, but I have been doing lots of art work. My big work table has many different projects sitting on it - all of them progress.

The rest of the loft is fairly tidy. I hung a number of my art pieces on the walls. All of the dog paintings are now up along with some framed zentangles and silhouettes. I even found a great place for the two abstract paintings I did.

Despite the rainy weather, I am going to see the new movie, Coraline in Pasadena. I know I am going to love it.

I finished drawing this zentangle this morning. I digitally embellished it with digital scrape-book paper. This is my "at the moment" favorite one.
