Procrastination List Takes A Beating

Yesterday, I took my procrastination list and made a huge dent in it.  Completed were the following:

1. Re-installation of GPS at Best Buy - I did not have to wait or schedule an appointment.  They took care of it on the spot at no cost and even refused the tip I offered.

2. Contacted my dental insurance company to change dental provider and then scheduled appointment with new dentist.  No holding on the line - talked to real live people.

3. Purchased and installed new AC filter - store clerk actually followed me to where the filters were to help me select the right size.

4. Store clerk in #3 was so helpful, I asked him about lighting for the Monopoly House.  He came up with a great solution - a tiny under counter light strip - the Monopoly House now has what looks like track lighting!  Love it!

5.  Hair cut - My favorite cranky older Armenian hair dresser at Super Cuts was available without a wait.  She never fails me.  She always gives me a great cut and blow-dry despite her crankiness.  She cut off 8 months worth of growth.  I feel like a new woman.

The digital collage here is not one of my better creations, but all right.

Way Too Hot

On Saturday in 99 degree weather, I paid $99 for gas - too hot and too high.  With a full tank of expensive gas, I drove home and stayed there all weekend with my AC running almost non-stop.

From now on when I have an entire weekend to myself, I am NOT going to think I will get a lot done.  When I do, my out-put disappointments me, and I feel like a slug.

I did complete one page for Kim's art journal and started on the second page and did several drawings.  One drawing was thrown away and the other one will never see the light of day.  The drawing shown here was done earlier in the week.  (CLICK ON PHOTO FOR A BETTER VIEW)

Saturday, a couple of young boys decided to use my skylight to help them climb over the fence into the locked swimming pool area.  In the process, they broke the peaked cap that covers the skylight.  The main piece of glass was not broken.  Fortunately for me, I was home and Bob was visiting.  We both raced up upstairs to catch the culprits.  Unfortunately for the boys, they are in a whole lot of trouble with their mother's boyfriend.

Bunny Zentangle

Despite my hand cramps, I finished the bunny zentangle last night.  Mabel kept trying to grab my pen.  She was full of herself while JJ napped in the corner.

It is one of those days where everyone at work is being stupid and I am the smartest person in the world - ha ha!  My logical thinking is fighting the forces of mañana thinking. 

I am so ready for the weekend to begin when I can retreat into the world of sanity and calmness.

Lady in Hat

Back to digital collaging.  I love black and white, but sometimes I just need to work with color.

Yesterday, I finished a design for a phone card that will be sold in liquor and convenience stores across the nation.  Never thought I would ever get that kind of exposure!  Not quite like getting a gallery showing.

Found two vintage (1963) Clue games yesterday at the thrift store.  One had never been opened.  With a total of three boards, I can go ahead and make a Clue House just like my Monopoly House.

Night time partner

Snapped this photo last night with my cell phone.  This is JJ's spot on the couch while I draw and/or watch TV.  He is wonderful company.  Mabel is on the other side of me on the end table.  She is good company also.

Busy, busy day today.

Zentangle Cat

I wasn't planning on making any cat tangles because I thought it was too cutesy.  But when friend Jackie mentioned she would like a cat, I decided to see if I could make a sophisticated kitty.  I do believe this one qualifies.  It is  5" x 7".

I was transplanting more heads today ("photo-shopping" a head from one photo to another photo).  It is not easy doing it when there are people walking in and out of my office asking me a million questions.

I watched Greensburg on Planet Green Discovery network Sunday night.  The Kansas town was completely destroyed by a tornado in May 2007.  The 13 part series shows the town rebuilding itself as a model green community.  Sounds boring, but it's not.  Of course, because it is about Kansas, I do have a bias.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to my Dad!  You were such a handsome devil.  But looks are aren't everything.  You also scored big in other areas.  There was never any doubt that you loved your family.

You were always there - at dance recitals, piano recitals, football games, plays, graduation, and lot of other things that you probably wished you could have skipped.

I have many happy memories over the years.  The one thing though I will always cherish is the time we traveled to Moldova to visit the birth place of your father, Gottlieb.  The family heritage you gave me which shaped me became so evident during that time.

Thanks for everything and probably I should thank you most for marrying Mother.

Digital Studio

The premier issue of Somerset Digital Studio arrived in the mail yesterday.  If there was ever a magazine custom made just for me, this is the one.  I have been playing around with digital collaging for a long time and felt guilty for not doing "real art".

The computer is always calling me, "Penny, please come and make something."  After reading the magazine, I feel as though my art medium is finally accepted.

Speaking of digital collaging, I have been transplanting Renan's head from one photo to another because he doesn't like his hair in his latest photo shoot.

I have become mesmerized by the lion and her cubs at Live Lion Cam.  Sleeping and changing positions are the main events.  However, this morning there was a lot of action.  Two cubs were having a "nipple fight."  There are four nipples to choose from, but two of the cubs wanted the same one.  The cubs are so tiny and cute.  Mother lion was giving them baths and her tongue is almost as big as the cubs.  Yesterday, I squealed in delight when I saw four cubs when I thought there were only three. 

The Art Critic

Another day of digital zettilogy collaging.  This time I used an Art & Antique Magazine for inspiration.  Grandmother Regina's name appears in this one.

I have been watching a lion and her three cubs somewhere in Norway (I think) on Live Lion Cam.  One cub had been nursing until mother lion turned over in her sleep and almost smashed the little one.  The cubs are really tiny and cute and they all do a lot of sleeping.  I have been tapping on the screen to see if I can get them to wake up.  (Just kidding.)
