I snatched this pantin from a French blog. Pantins date back to the Court at Versailles( c.1740s) where ladies of the court on one of their visits to the French country side visited the village of Pantin where they found local craftsmen making toys for their children. These toys, some of them shaped like our JUMPING JACKS, would move their arms and legs in a most interesting and entertaining fashion like they were doing wild, strange and fascinating dances! The Ladies of the French Court brought them back to Versailles where they became wildly popular. So popular that... they were soon banned from Court for their disruptive influence!
Lots of fireworks at court yesterday. Latino men and their hot tempers! The judge was not happy and called one a liar and sent the other to jail for the evening. Can't wait to hear what crazy thing is going to happen today.
