One does not wake up thinking they will be making a 911 call during the day. However, today was my day. Oscar, the man who weighs 1,000 pounds, developed a nasty infection from all his bed sores. I went down to see him in the afternoon and it was clear that he needed to get to a hospital. With the help of his family, we convinced him it was what he needed to do - or as I told him, he would be dead in two weeks.
At 3:30 pm, I dialed 911 and requested assistance to help remove Oscar from his home and transport him to the hospital. By 3:40 pm, there were eight emergency vehicles in front of the house and a total of twenty people including firemen, police officers and paramedics. After surveying the situation, they decided to cut a large hole through the bedroom wall and take Oscar out through the living room window. Since the ambulance was not big enough, they used a pick-up to take him to the hospital.
Oscar was not happy about the situation but he realized it had to be done. Once he got to the hospital and settled into his room, he calmed down. His official admitting weight was 1057 pounds. This is after he lost 30-50 pounds at home.
I did make it home in time for the finals of Dancing With The Stars. I had no preference between Emmitt and Mario. They were both great. Mario was the better dancer, but Emmitt was entertaining.
I am rearranging furniture again. The living room furniture is now in the bedroom area (with the bedroom furniture). And the living room area is going to be my new Play Area. The art studio is going to be turned into a guest bedroom/sitting area. The kitties love it when I start moving things around. It gives them new things to explore.
