The Family Shrine Wall

For ten years, three vintage suitcases sat lonely next to my leather couch.  I knew I wanted to do something with them - just never quite sure what.  And then it came to me when I saw the cover of a Flea Market magazine.  Turn them into shelves.  What then?  Why of course - make a Family Shrine Wall.  With the help of my brother, we cut them in half, reinforced them and bolted them to the wall.  Three suitcases turned into six shelves.  With all the collecting I do, it was easy to fill up.

The metal door labeled 733 was our mailbox growing up.  When the post office was remodeled, we got the old door.

The Documented Life Project 2015

I am participating in The Documented Life Project this year.  I could not be happier with the course.  The on-line art class runs through-out the year with a new prompt every week while creating an art journal.

The first week we were asked to use book paper and journal our goals.  Here I have used old dictionary pages to cover a two page spread.  The circles were made using old sheet music.  I glued two sheets together to make the circles stronger and then painted them with acrylic paint and embellished with paint pens.

I will post later the finished spread.

French Paper Crafts

I love the paper cut-outs, especially the French ones, that can be found at Agence Eureka...except I do not like to cut them out.  Too many tiny pieces of paper making a mess.  So I decided to "assemble" the cut-outs digitally.

The vintage cut-out models were sold in books, magazines and on food packaging.

This finished piece is a combination of three different models.

Luttrell Psalter

Maybe this is going to be my new next project.  I seem to cycle in and out of artistic interests.  I have always loved creating digital collages.  Now that I have discovered the Luttrell Psalter and other 14th century art, I just cannot help myself.  

The Luttrell Psalter has 639 images/pages.  On the majority of the pages are wonderful gems weaved into the over all image.  I love snagging these gems and combining them to create my own imaginary world.

The story is still formulating in my mind about this one.  Obviously there is a fight or disagreement about something.
